Production Association Polyot
Production Association Polyot usually called "Полёт" by the aviation workers and pilots or "ПО Полёт" inside the company, while the official Russian name is: "Производственное объединение Полёт" "Polyot" is a Russian aerospace engineering company best known for being the manufacturer of GLONASS satellites and the Kosmos-3M space launch vehicle. The company is based in Omsk, in the Russian Federation. In 2007, the company was integrated into the Khrunichev enterprise. Its full name is "Polyot" Manufacturing Corporation, A Branch of The Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Khrunichev State Research and Production  Space Center".
Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Production Corporation” "FSUE PC" “Polyot” began as an aircraft construction factory №166 generated "24 July 1941 on the base of Moscow air factories № 156 now plc “Tupolev” and 81 now "Open Joint Stock Company Tushino machine-building works”, and on the base of Omsk auto assembly plant factories named after Komintern № 6, of trailer and aviation shop of Civil Air Fleet "CAF"
The 1st director of corporation was a pilot, the Hero of Soviet Union "The Gold Star of the Hero № 1" Anatoly Vasilevich Lyapidevsky. In 1941-1943 on the factory worked an experience construction department of a large domestic aircraft designer A.N. Tupolev. Among the personnel of DD was the future founder of Soviet practical astronautic S.P. Korolev.
In the period of Great Patriotic war was made at PC “Polyot” 80 bombers Tu-2, more then 3500 fighters Yak-9.The aircrafts which were made at “Polyot” took part in all the largest battles include the battle at the Kursk Bulge and at the time of taking Berlin. On the Omsk Yak-9 the French pilots fought from the famous regiment “Normandy-Niemen”. Altogether from 1942 to 1945 more than 3800 aircrafts different brands and modifications were made. 
After the war the enterprise continued the production of aviation production. At “Polyot” were made the best jet-bomber of that time Il-28 "it was made 758 aircrafts" and the 1st in the world the civil jet aircrafts Tu-104 "it was made 61 aircrafts".
At the end of 50 the factory №166 began to produce battle ballistic missiles, then the spacecrafts. From 1968 there was the production of the launch vehicle of the light class Kosmos-3M, which became the most reliable in its class. 
Flight reliability of the launch vehicle is 97%. More then 750 times the launch vehicle “Kosmos-3M” put into the circular and elliptical orbits the spacecrafts by the Russian and International programs. From the proving ground Kapustin Yar and from the cosmodrome Plesetsk were launched the satellites of India, France, Sweden, USA, Mexico, German, Italy, Great Britain and China. Recently there was the work by the modernization of the launch vehicle: it was created the new PLF with increase area of actual load, there is a possibility of passing launch of some small spacecrafts which are placed on the basic and some multitype SC simultaneously.
High flight reliability of the launch vehicle “Kosmos-3M” makes it in demand on the international markets space services.
The launch vehicle “Kosmos-3M” is chosen by German company “OHB-system” "Bremen" for realization of the project “SAR-Lupe” – the large order of the German Government in the sphere of the space industry. 18 December 2006 from the cosmodrome “Plesetsk” was carried out the launch of launch vehicle “Kosmos-3M” with the 1st spacecraft “SAR-Lupe” on the board. 2 July 2007 from the cosmodrome “Plesetsk” was put into target orbit the second German satellite
SAR-Lupe by Launch vehicle “Kosmos-3M”, and 1 November 2007 – the third. The rest two spacecrafts is planning to carry out during 2007-2008.
Another scope of activity of the enterprise - production of spacecrafts. For a quarter of a century on “Polyot” was created more than 250 different spacecrafts. On “Polyot” was carried out 87 spacecrafts of the navigation system GLONASS, where at present is functioning 4 satellites of Polyot production. A special place occupied the development and production SC “Nadezhda”, the main element of international satellite system “KOSPAS-SARSAT”.
With the help of it is carried out the determination of position of aircraft and crafts which are in distress in any region of the Earth irrespective from the time of the year, day and weather conditions to 3,6 km. from 1982 was launched 10 SC “Nadezhda” and at present in the structure of satellite system is used 2 SC “Nadezhda” by “Polyot”. 
For 25 years of being “Nadezhda” helped to lead more than 5700 rescue operations, found out and rescued more than 20000 men. Now on PC “Polyot” is developed small spacecraft of new generation “Sterkh”, which will replace SC “Nadezhda” and provide the further development and more effective usage of the system “KOSPAS-SARSAT”. An expected date of the putting into orbit 2008.
In January, 2005 was launched small spacecraft ”University” for research of the Earth radiation belt and solar activity. The specialists of DD created the unique satellite: in minimal dimensions were placed the control system and experimental equipment, which provides the high efficiency of application.
On the orbit the satellites of earth remote sensing are functioning with successful with resolving ability up to 50 m, SSC for the decision of applied, scientific, educational tasks type of “Mozhaec”
At the beginning of 90 in the network of the concept conversion implementation of defense industrial complex of the country at FSUE PC “Polyot” is mastered the delivery of multipurpose aircraft An-74 and serial production of Light multipurpose aircraft AN-3T was got right, the feature of which are the possibilities of matching the landing fields from the air, low speed of the stall, high grade of the gilder, considerable range ability and load rating and high takeoff and landing characteristics. That is one of the world single-engine aircraft, which made the nonstop flight from the South Pole to the Antarctica sea coast got over the distance of 1800km.
In common with Aeronautical Scientific Technical Complex "Kiev, Ukraine" at the beginning of 2001 at PC “Polyot” in the shortest period the experimental model of the military transport aircraft An-70 of the XXI century was restored.
The presence of the high-technology production allows PC “Polyot” producing new elaboration not only in rocket-space and aviation sectors, but to another sectors. 
For needs of city economy demountable heat exchangers of different variants and different heat powers are produced. For the reconstruction of outdated urban utility services communication and laying of new, is produced the pneumodrills with the diameter of 55,65,80 and 145 mm.
The unique development of PC “Polyot” - the furnace “Fakel” on liquid and gaseous fuel for autonomous work in conditions of electric power absence. 
Perspective working is going to production – wind energetic installation (WEI) of rotor type based on the effect of Magnus. It provides with electric power the objects that are not connected up with central power-economy system. WEI can work with the diesel-generator stations with power up to 500kWt. 
For the oil sector the serial production of set of equipment for fine clearing of drilling fluid is mastered, for plc “Russian railways” PC “Polyot” produces the technological complexes for the short preening and painting of the carriages. In the frame of the conversion of the production PC “Polyot” produces the different consumer goods of “Siberia” brand from 1957 "washing machines, centrifuges, grain crushers, electro separators". 
The Kosmos-3M launch vehicle, produced at the company since 1969, has established a reputation as one of the most reliable rockets in its class with a reliability coefficient of 0.97. Polyot also develops navigation satellites, such as Nadezhda, Parus, GLONASS and GLONASS-M. 
In the aviation sector, the company's products include the AN-3T light multi-purpose aircraft, AN-70 transport aircraft and the AN-74 multi-purpose aircraft.
PC Polyot is slated to produce the upcoming URM-1 first stage of the Angara "rocket family", a part of Khrunichev's new Angara rocket family. The Angara is projected to become Russia's primary unmanned launch vehicle in the near future. The company will also take over the production of the Briz-KM upper stage, which is currently used on the Rocket launch vehicle, this module will function as the second stage of the Angara 1.2 launch vehicle. By 2015, 60 URM stages are expected to be produced at the company annually for Angara-3.2 and Angara 1.2 rockets. 
The company has entered a partnership with the German company OHB-System, providing the Kosmos-3M launch vehicle as well as designing and producing satellite platforms for OHB-System's ORBCOMM project. Six such satellites were launched on 19 June 2008 with the Cosmos-3M rocket: one ORBCOMM CDS weighing 80kg, and five ORBCOMM Quick Launches weighing 115kg each. On 9 November 2009 ORBCOMM filed a report to the United States  Securities and Exchange Commission stating that since launch, communications capability for three of the quick-launch satellites and the CDS has been lost. The failed satellites experienced attitude control system anomalies as well as anomalies with its power systems, which resulted in the satellites losing their proper orientation toward the sun and in reduced power generation. The company has filed a $50 million claim with its insurers covering the loss of all six satellites and received $44.5 million in compensation. In 2009, ORBCOMM turned to another satellite manufacturer to build 18 satellites for its second-generation constellation.
